Pack your bags. Convention week is here.
ATSSA’s 56th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo begins Friday in Houston, kicking off with fun and games.
This annual gathering of thousands of roadway safety infrastructure professionals gets rolling in Houston with the two biggest fundraisers of the year to benefit the American Traffic Safety Services (ATSS) Foundation – the 34th annual Golf Classic Tournament and the 13th annual Sporting Clays Event.
These events offer camaraderie and competition for a cause and include students who are recipients of the Foundation’s Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarships.
Fun activities are also sprinkled throughout the George R. Brown Convention Center, site of all Convention activities Feb. 21-24.
As you enter the Registration area, check out two artistic exhibits. The “Art of Safe Work Zones” will present artwork by children of ATSSA members who created illustrations of a family member at work. The “Built for Safety: ATSSA Traffic Expo Challenge” gave adults the opportunity to show off their creative acumen by fashioning something out of work zone devices. Photos of these unique uses for roadway safety tools will be displayed.
Also, look for Puppy Park nestled into the ATSSA Pavilion Sunday through Tuesday. Take time to pause and pet a puppy. And if you loved Legos as a kid, you’ll want to stop by the Lego Bar to put your engineering skills to work.
Here’s a snapshot of the rest of the 5-day event taking place at ATSSA’s 2026 Convention & Traffic Expo. Grab your smartphone and download the ATSSA Events app for the most efficient way to plot your itinerary and not miss a thing.
If you serve on one – or more – of ATSSA’s 18 Councils or Committees, you’ll get down to business on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Convention Center.
Sunday, Feb. 22 begins with more education offerings than anyone could possibly attend so choose wisely among the roughly two dozen offerings available in 1-hour time slots from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. More offerings will be available on the Traffic Expo floor on Monday, Feb. 23 and Tuesday, Feb. 24. There are also breakfast events, luncheons, tours and receptions so check the app for details.
After your head is filled with incredible information on every facet of the industry, shift gears and head for the grand opening of the Traffic Expo where more than 240 exhibitors will showcase their innovative ideas.
Monday, Feb. 23 starts with a 9 a.m. session featuring keynote Chad Hymas who will speak about the importance of safety, plus don’t miss the honorees of this year’s national awards, insights into legislative advocacy and an emotional tribute to men and women who have lost their lives as a result of work zone crashes.
The Traffic Expo reopens at 11 a.m. with hours of opportunities to see the latest devices and tech for roadway safety and interact with their creators. With refreshments on the show floor, it’s easy to explore the vast showcase.
Tuesday, Feb. 24 brings the event to a climax with the Circle of Innovation, micro sessions on the exhibit floor and a special session on innovations in nighttime operations sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Get packed and don’t forget comfortable shoes. The 56th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo covers 300,000 square feet of space and there are countless things to see, people to meet and safety solutions to discover.
It’s not too late to register for ATSSA’s 2026 Convention & Traffic Expo, where roadway safety and innovation intersect.
