This Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, the Arizona ATSSA Chapter will match the first $7,500 in gifts to the ATSS Foundation.
At least two people are killed in work zones every day, according to the Federal Highway Administration. When a work zone incident takes a worker's life or leaves them permanently disabled, their family is left to rebuild. The ATSS Foundation is there for those families. It also works to help every driver understand what's at stake, so that every worker and every road user comes home safely.
#GivingTuesday is a Global Day of Generosity held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, make it count for roadway safety.

This Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, your gift will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $7,500. That’s twice the support for families rebuilding after a work zone crash, and twice the reach for driver education that saves lives.
Meet the people your gift supports
Roadway workers build and repair the roads we all depend on, often just feet from moving vehicles. When the worst happens, your gift reaches their families. It also reaches the students and new drivers who are learning why work zones matter. Here are three of the people it has helped.
Megan Pirelli, Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship recipient
Megan Pirelli's father, Mark, was killed in September 2020 when a driver entered a work zone on Interstate 80 in Illinois and struck him as he stood beside his truck. With a Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship every year of nursing school, Megan became a registered nurse. She now cares for cancer patients at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.
"This scholarship didn't just change my path; it helped my dreams come true," Megan said.
Sadie Shoemaker, National Work Zone Safe Teen Driver course scholarship recipient
Sadie Shoemaker received a scholarship to take the National Work Zone Safe Teen Driver course. Today, she says, she sees that every worker in a work zone is trying to get home safely, and she has become a more cautious driver. That matters: Speed was a factor in more than a third of fatal work zone crashes in 2024, according to the FHWA.
That's what your gift does: It supports the families of workers who were killed or injured, honors the people we've lost and teaches drivers to slow down.
