Horizon Signal of Reading, Pa., raised $38,000 for the ATSS Foundation through an online auction during the month of February.

Horizon Signal presented two pieces of roadway safety equipment for the auction: a Trailer-Mounted Automated Flagger Assistance Device (AFAD) and a similar Cart-Mounted AFAD. Both items are designed to streamline and enhance safety in traffic control operations.

Horizon Signal‘s core mission is to advance work zone safety through a commitment to continuous innovation. This mission aligns with the ATSS Foundation’s core purpose to promote roadway safety through charitable giving and public awareness programs.

“We at Horizon Signal recognize the important role the ATSS Foundation plays in promoting work zone safety and supporting the families of fallen workers,” said Horizon Signal President David Krahulec. “For this reason, we have chosen to make the Foundation our charity of choice.”

S2 Rentals and Sales of Austin/San Antonio, Texas and ATSSA member Warning Lites of Minneapolis, Minn. made the winning bids for Horizon’s AFADs, which are used to provide safe, dependable and intuitive flagging assistance in roadway work zones.

Foundation Chair Kevin Shelton expressed his appreciation for Horizon Signal as well as the companies that placed the winning bids.

“I would like to thank Horizon Signal for their continued support of the ATSS Foundation by hosting the equipment auction in 2024,” Shelton said. “Horizon has proven leadership in the traffic safety industry, and they lead by example with their support of the Foundation.
