Foundation scholarship recipient achieves nursing dream
Megan Pirelli perseveres despite loss of father and bout with cancer
Megan Pirelli has wanted to become a nurse since her first taste of the profession at age 16 when her mother suffered complications from knee replacement surgery.
She went to college, studied nursing and in December passed the national licensure exam to become a registered nurse.
But the path to her dream career was anything but easy.
She lost her father in a work zone crash in 2020 and then faced multiple medical crises including cancer as she sought to press ahead to pursue her goal.

Megan said she couldn’t have achieved her dream without the support of the ATSS Foundation and its Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarships.
Read the rest of Megan’s story and much more in the latest issue of Roadway Safety magazine, online now.
