Transform the life of a grieving child
ATSS Foundation previously offered travel scholarships for children and a guardian who have lost a parent, sibling or caregiver to a roadway work zone incident to attend an Experience Camp. Experience Camps are a national network of free one-week, overnight summer camps and year-round programs for children and teens (grades 4–12) who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver.
Since 2009, they have transformed the lives of thousands of children by reframing the experience of grief and empowering them with the confidence, skills and support to move forward with their lives.
ATSS Foundation's Experience Camps Travel Scholarship offered transportation to the camp, to enable healing and fun for children impacted by work zone crashes. It is our hope to eventually give out zero scholarships as a result of zero fatalities. Learn more about Experience Camps.
“Experience Camps play an important role in helping children cope with the tragic loss of a parent resulting from a work zone incident. Experience Camps are free to attend but do not include travels costs. The Foundation is pleased to provide travel scholarships which enables a child and guardian to travel to and from the Experience Camps at no cost.” -- Past Foundation Chair David Krahulec from Horizon Signal Technologies
Travel scholarship through ATSS Foundation
ATSS Foundation offered 100% coverage of the round trip travel costs for an eligible child to attend a free Experience Camps and for a guardian to escort their child to the camp.
Campers must have applied for a Foundation travel scholarship and submitted a Camper Application from Experience Camps. The travel scholarship was contingent upon camper application approval from Experience Camps.
