Innovations spotlighted in Summer issue of Roadway Safety

Safety breakthroughs developed for drivers, pedestrians and workers

In effort to break through the increasing number of distractions vying for drivers’ attention, HAAS Alert developed Safety Cloud to warn drivers they are approaching a work zone and other road hazards.

Audio and visual digital alerts appear on a vehicle’s infotainment console or on a smartphone to protect motorists and roadway workers, earning Safety Cloud this year’s Innovation Award, chosen by a panel of public agency officials.

Apex Waterjetting received recognition for its StripeBot, an autonomous stripe-removal tool. Ver-Mac received recognition for Work Zone Live, a technology solution for temporary traffic control. And Intelligent Security Systems received recognition for its SecurOs Soffit, designed to make pedestrians more visible to drivers.
