At age 13, Mary Sollars’ life in the close-knit community of Rocky River, Ohio, was changed forever.
Mary’s father, David Sollars, was striping lanes in a work zone near Cleveland when he was struck by a vehicle. Five days later – on April 2, 2019 – he died from his injuries, leaving behind a wife and three children.
Today, Mary attends Elon University in North Carolina, where she competes on the school’s NCAA Division I Track & Field Team and is a two-time recipient of the ATSS Foundation’s Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship.
