Charity auction raises $16K to support American Traffic Safety Services Foundation

Funds will be used to support loved ones impacted by work zone crashes

The American Traffic Safety Services (ATSS) Foundation will receive just over $16,000 to support the nonprofit’s mission to support loved ones impacted by work zone crashes, thanks to Lindsay Transportation Solutions.

The Foundation provides support to the loved ones of those impacted by work zone crashes through several programs, including scholarships like the Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship and the Experience Camps Travel Scholarship. The Foundation also honors those killed in work zone incidents with the National Work Zone Memorial. Funds raised online by the virtual pledge wall are used to support The Foundation’s programs throughout the year.

Lindsay Transportation was able to raise the funds by hosting a charity auction, which ran online Feb. 9-28, 2019. The company auctioned off their first TAU-M crash cushion. The Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) tested crash cushion is a lifesaving roadway safety infrastructure device used in work zones to protect motorists and roadway workers. It is the industry’s first redesigned TAU product in almost 20 years.

Ryan Samek of Lindsay Transportation Solutions spoke to the company’s decision to host an auction supporting The Foundation.

“It’s something that effects all of us – anyone driving down the road. Workers killed in work zones is something that impacts every one of us. This auction was a way that one of our products was able to give back to a cause that has, at one point or another, effected everybody that we work with every day,” said Samek.

The funds will be used to support The Foundation’s programs including the Roadway Worker Memorial Scholarship program, which provides post-secondary educational scholarships to dependents or spouses of roadway workers permanently disabled or killed in a work zone crash.

“We’re so grateful to Lindsay Transportation Solutions for hosting an auction to support the work of The Foundation. The success of the auction, which raised more than $16,000, would not have been possible without participation from bidders and many individuals who helped promote this event. Donations and events like this support the work The Foundation is doing in our mission to move Toward Zero Deaths, while supporting the loved ones of those impacted by work zone incidents,” said The Foundation’s President David Krahulec of Horizon Signal Technologies, Inc.
